Inspired by JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology) in a collaboration to mark the 45th anniversary of the creation of Seiko’s original diver’s watch – the very first one in 1968 – the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF002J1 is a top-end diver. Produced in just 1000 copies worldwide, its very first and exclusive diver takes its aesthetics from the pattern of the ocean in the wake of JAMSTEC’s Mirai II icebreaker, which slowly cuts its way through the polar ice in the North. All of this takes place in a super hard coated stainless steel casing. The deep blue textured graduation dial perfectly reflects this trail, its blue ceramic bezel proving ultra-resistant to scratches while the glass, double curved sapphire and its water resistance of up to 300 metres go hand in hand with an imposing 72-hour power reserve from an 8L45 movement built in high quality from scratch in Shizukuishi Watch Studio.
